SOP, Guidelines, and Standards

The purpose of this working group is to ensure that all PPW management actions are underpinned by fit-for purpose guidance and technical standards that help to optimise outcomes and maximise efficient use of resources. The work programme will involve liaison with IMO, UNESCO and UNEP to both augment existing standards and facilitate development of new toolkits to enable integration of PPW management with broader ocean stewardship and cultural heritage management.

Chuuk Regional Action Group

The aim of this working group is to develop a plan for the removal of oil from 1 wreck in Chuuk Lagoon, know as the Demonstrator Project. This will incorporate all necessary engineering, planning and logistics for oil removal.

Oil Removal, Transport, Disposal, and Re-use

The purpose of this working group is to explore and document the current state-of-the-art for oil removal from PPWs. Identify methods that can enable the reuse of the oil when recovered, and assessment of relevant regulatory issues.
