The data and archives workshop took place in Valletta over two days in March 2025 with 130 attendees.

Presentations included content on citizen science (Andrew Viduka, GIRT Scientific Diving), maritime archaeology and archival stories (Lauren Tidbury, MAT), environmental data (Freya Goodsir, CEFAS), geophysical data (Paul Baggaley, Wessex Archaeology), challenges of historic data (Fraser Stuart, University of Southampton), challenges of data and large GIS systems (Paul Heersink), shipwrecks in Malta (Timmy Gambin, Heritage Malta), data and the Pacific (Matt Carter, Inkfish), the UN Ocean Data Hub (Lucy Scott, IOC/UNESCO), and photogrammetry (Chris Rowland, University of Dundee).

On 12 June, as part of the third UN Ocean Conference, Project Tangaroa published The Malta Manifesto, in a bid to encourage governments to act decisively before the situation reaches breaking point.
