Waves Group, one of the leading partners of Tangaroa, led a detailed underwater survey and assessment of HMS Cassandra, a British cruiser lost in the Baltic Sea in 1918.
A team of experts surveyed the HMS Cassandra, assessing the risk of oil polluting from the deteriorating vessel – a concern raised by the Estonian Government that has brought two nations together in a shared mission.
The findings from this survey will help shape the future management of HMS Cassandra, potentially including a controlled intervention to safely remove the oil.
With collaboration at it’s heart, work like this could set the standard for how we protect our seas and honour our maritime heritage for generations to come.
